Use this guide to explore primary sources on Australian history, politics and culture in AM databases. A large amount of sources represent the colonial, Eurocentric perspectives of early immigrants and settlers. Content produced by and for First Nation peoples is highlighted wherever possible. You will find material on a huge range of subjects, from early exploration and settlement, warfare and women's suffrage, to colonial cooking methods, the writings of Germaine Greer, and Aboriginal women's art.

AM databases containing primary sources on Pacific history, politics and culture cover a wealth of subject areas, from trading relationships with Europeans and Americans to twentieth-century music recordings. The bulk of the content here covers Hawai’i, New Zealand, Samoa and Fiji, though there are also documents throughout the collections that examine Tonga, Tahiti, Papua New Guinea and the smaller islands. When searching through AM collections we would always recommend searching for the current and historical names of the locations you are researching.
