• The NYC Mayor's Office of Ethnic and Community Media (MOECM) produces a Citywide Marketing Directory with a list of local ethnic and community media outlets, updated annually. 
• The Center for Community Media (CCM) at the CUNY Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism has a New York City Community Media Directory with information on community publications in the New York metropolitan region.
• New York City Newspapers at The New York Public Library is an excellent resource for finding local sources, past and present.
• Wikipedia’s List of New York City newspapers and magazines and List of African American newspapers in New York are useful particularly if researching historical news and looking for defunct newspapers.
