Relevant Agencies

At the city level, the Mayor's Office of Climate & Environmental Justice leads the City's program for integrated climate actions, include PlaNYC, the City's comprehensive sustainability plan. The Mayor's Office of Environmental Remediation (OER) is responsible for the implementation of the brownfield cleanup and redevelopment initiatives. The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) protects public health and the environment by supplying clean drinking water, collecting and treating wastewater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous substances pollution.

At the state level, the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) works to conserve, improve and protect New York's natural resources and environment. NYSERDA (New York State Energy Research and Development Authority), is a public benefit corporation that provides information and analysis, programs, technical expertise, and support to help New Yorkers increase energy efficiency, save money, use renewable energy, and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
