Research Data: Home

Resources for researchers eager to use and manage their data ethically and reproducibly.

Welcome to the Research Data Library Guide

This guide is part of a suite of services provided by Columbia University to help researchers conduct exceptional research. Please also consult the Research Data at Columbia page provided by the Office of Research. If you have any questions, you can always email us, Research Data Services at data@library.columbia.edu.

Currently, this guide hosts a page on data management, but there are other guides at Columbia focused on using data:

I Need Help with a Data Management Plan

Please see the Management page of this guide for more information on DMPs and using the DMPTool. Of course, you can reach out to Research Data Services (data@library.columbia.edu) for a further consultation.

2023 NIH Requirements for Data Management and Sharing

Effective January 25, 2023, NIH has a new policy for data management and sharing. We encourage you to contact the special data management email (data-management@columbia.edu) for expert guidance.

2022 NIH Requirements for Training in Responsible Conduct in Research

In 2022, NIH has updated their guidance on training for Responsible Conduct in Research, including new training for data acquisition and analysis (including management and recordkeeping) as well as training on secure and ethical data use. Again, please reach out to the Research and Data Integrity (ReaDI) program (ReaDI@columbia.edu) for expert guidance. The Columbia Office of Research sponsors materials in responsible conduct in research in the Rascal system. One of the modules is explicitly about data management.
