The Center for Research Libraries

The Center for Research Libraries (CRL)

Columbia University faculty, staff, and students have free and unlimited use of the Center for Research Libraries (CRL) collections, available via BorrowDirect or InterLibrary Loan. CRL supports advanced research and teaching in the humanities, sciences, and social sciences by preserving and making available to scholars the primary source material critical to those disciplines.

A consortium of libraries supports this repository for published primary source materials. CRL has extensive international newspaper holdings and has preserved and made available document and archival collections and dissertations from throughout the world.

CRL scans selected items for electronic delivery to member libraries and loans microfilm for extended periods. Area Microform Projects preserve (digital and microformat) specialized collections from Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Slavic and East European region.
