Installing and Configuring Capital IQ Excel Plug-In

Please read before downloading:

  1. The excel plug in is not supported for Apple computers; it will work if you have a Windows partition on your Mac.
  2. If the latest version of Capital IQ does not work with your operating system you may have to install an earlier version. From the downloads page click on Advanced Office Downloads.
  3. Please contact Capital IQ support if you encounter any technical issues installing the plug in. Phone: 1 888 806-5541
  4. Academic accounts do not have access to the iPad, iPhone or Android apps.
  5.  Manuals and documentation can be found by logging into Capital IQ and clicking on Help at the top right of the screen.

Part 1

  1. Go to CapitalIQ.com Step
  2. Click on the “Forgot Your Password?” link.
  3. You’ll be prompted to enter your email address. Use your GSB lifetime email ONLY (faculty or staff, use your UNI email).
  4. You will receive a link via your university email address, which you can then click on to set the new password for use in Excel. Please note these password requirements when creating a password: password must be at least 8 characters long and have 1 uppercase letter, 1 lower case letter, and 1 number.

VERY IMPORTANT:

  1. DO NOT USE THE “Forgot Your Password” button in Excel, as this does not provide the same workflow.
  2. This password is only to be used for the Excel plug in. When accessing the web version of Capital IQ use the same account information as always.

Part 2

1.  Log in to Capital IQ. Click on MyCapitalIQ and select download.

2.  Choose the appropriate file and download. Save and install the application.

3. Open excel. You should see a Capital IQ tab. Choose the tab and click on settings. Enter your GSB email (same one you used in step 1) and the password you created in Step 1.

4.  Click on templates and choose "get/update templates" Choose all. This will take about five minutes.
