Locating fiche sheets on JSTOR

Avery Library's digitized microfiche representing the Frank Lloyd Wright correspondence collection is publicly available on JSTOR. You do not need to be affiliated with an institution, nor do you need to create a JSTOR account to use the digital resource.

Follow the four steps below to find and use correspondence in the online collection:


Step 1: Search by name in JSTOR collection.

To locate correspondence within the JSTOR collection, use the "search within collection" box to search by name of sender or recipient:

Step 2: Open the microfiche sheet.

Once you've searched by name, click on the thumbnail image of the microfiche sheet you wish to consult:

Step 3: Find the letter's FicheID.

You'll see information about the individual letters contained on the sheet on the left side of the screen. Use CTRL+F on your keyboard to search for the name of your sender or recipient. The description of each letter begins with a "FicheID":

Step 4: Locate the letter on the sheet.

Use the FicheID associated with the letter to locate the item on the microfiche sheet. The next page in this guide will demonstrate how to parse the FicheID into the letter's coordinates on the page.
