The website is divided into four sections:
"Worthy and Unworthy" (1870s) - When poor Jewish immigrants from Europe started arriving in New York City vast numbers, the United Hebrew Charities came into being to meet their needs. Features an interactive map of charity recipients and donors exploring ideas of the "worthy" and "unworthy" poor.
The National Desertion Bureau (1911-1935) - Features a searchable database of 19,000 case cards documenting the Bureau's efforts to track down men who had abandoned their wives, including reasons for desertion and case outcomes. Includes a detailed story told through one extensive case file.
Architects of Care (1930s-1970s) - Features biographical profiles of leading voices in mental health and social welfare, along with curated historical documents, photographs, oral history recordings, and other archival materials.
Voices of The Jewish Board (1970s-Present) - Includes oral history interviews with staff, trustees, and clients documenting the agency's work in diversifying its staff and training them in anti-racist practices, providing services to people with AIDS , and navigating changes to Medicaid funding.
