Finding Library Materials

Climate Research at Columbia University
- Tamer Center for Social Enterprise and Social ChangeThe mission of the Tamer Institute is to educate leaders to use business knowledge, entrepreneurial skills, and management tools to address social and environmental challenges. We achieve this by supporting the creation and communication of new ideas, and by providing curricular and extra-curricular opportunities for Columbia University students.
- SIPA Center for Environmental Economics and Policies (CEEP)CEEP will undertake original research into the causes of environmental change, the consequences of this change for humanity, and the policies that can prevent and – where possible – reverse harmful environmental change to ensure sustainable development. CEEP’s goal is to share this knowledge with policymakers, fellow researchers, students, and concerned citizens worldwide. A defining feature of the Center's research is the integration of analytic approaches from economics with the natural sciences and engineering.
- Sustainable Investment Research InitiativeSIRI’s activities focus on the following five pillars: 1) the development of better measures to track progress toward the mitigation of system-level challenges; 2) the fostering of rigorous academic scholarship on system-level investing; 3) improving dialogue by convening and hosting leaders from academia, policy, the public and private sector; 4) the development of new courses and extracurricular activities to educate the next generation of leaders in policy, investment, and business; and 5) executive education to educate the current generation of leaders. These pillars aim to complement, inform, and mutually reinforce each other
- Columbia Climate SchoolThe Columbia Climate School supports innovative research in the science, consequences, and human dimensions of climate change. It provides evidence-base analysis that informs decisions for policy-makers, government, industries, and nonprofits.
- Lenfest Center for Sustainable EnergyThe mission of the Lenfest Center for Sustainable Energy (LCSE) is to advance science and develop innovative technologies that provide sustainable energy and materials for all humanity, while allowing energy transition for zero emissions and maintaining the stability of the Earth’s natural systems.
- International Research Institute For Climate and SocietyThe mission of the IRI is to enhance society’s capability to understand, anticipate and manage the impacts of climate in order to improve human welfare and the environment, especially in developing countries. The IRI conducts this mission through strategic and applied research, education, capacity building, and by providing forecasts and information products with an emphasis on practical and verifiable utility and partnership.
- Center for Global Energy PolicyThe Center on Global Energy Policy (CGEP) at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs develops evidence-based research to help address the world’s most challenging energy and climate problems through research, education, and dialogue.
- Columbia Center on Sustainable InvestmentA joint initiative of the Columbia Law School and Climate School with a focus on advancing sustainable international investment. The center aims to identify and realize new pathways to progress for governments, financial institutions, and global businesses by reshaping policies, laws, and private sector approaches through a sophisticated engagement with complex political, economic, and regulatory systems. The center areas of focus include, energy transition, human rights, climate change and more.
- Lamont-Doherty Earth ObservatoryLamont is the scientific research heart of the Columbia Climate School, which was founded in 2020 to develop and inspire knowledge-based solutions and educate future leaders for just and prosperous societies on a healthy planet.
